Addressing a meeting at Dublin, inviting the Lord Mayor to hold an independent inquiry into the conduct of the police, Mr Larkin described the British flag as a dirty one, covering more disease and degradation than any he knew.
Thereupon Captain White, son of the Ladysmith hero, strongly protested, and withdrew.
