Sydney, January 10
A tragedy took place at Double Bay. Mrs Hardy, wife of Walter Hardy, head of a large city jewellery firm, hearing shouts proceed from the bedroom of her son Alan, 21 years of ago, found the latter in bed, and her husband dead on the floor, with a revolver alongside, both being shot in the. bead. The son died en route to the liospitnl.
It is surmised that the father shot his son and then himself, but t lie cause of the tragedy is a mystery. The tragedy is inexplicable, excepting the theory of the sudden dementia of the father. The son, who was an only child, was on most affection-
ate terms with his father. The son was apparently shot while sleeping. Last year the father had a physical and nervous breakdown, and, under medical advice, visited Kngland. He returned to cop© with the heavy Christmas business. Though still suffering from nervous tension, he refused to take the advice of bis son and others to take a further rest.
