WESTLAND’S JUBILEE.
THE FESTIVITIES CONTINUED. [Per Press Association.] Hokitika, January 10. The weather continues glorious for tlie jubilee celebrations, and all functions are passing off most successfully; The Jubilee hall brought .together a great crush. Two big trains left for Ross, where the day’s festivities were arranged for, and the excursionists return to Hokitika for a fireworks display to-night. The Governor to-day is visiting the hospital and other pub-, lie institutions. He is leaving at 1 p.m. for Greyrnouth. The pioneers are delighted with their treatment, and are loud in their praise of the hospitality provided. It has been a memorable time for the town and the dis T triot. The visiting Parliamentarians are all N delighted with the prospects ahead of Westland.
Replying to a deputation the Minister for Public Works said he intended to push on the completion of the Otira tunnel as quickly as he could.
