WOOL FOR JAPAN.

An interested spectator at the- wool sales in Wellington was Mr T. Takahashi, who represents f, e Government woollen mills at Tokio Japan. Mr Takahashi is visiting New Zealand with ••. view of furnishing a report to the Japanese-Government on the quality of our wool, and also as to the I methods of sale adopted here. To a [Wellington "Post" representative Mr Takahashi stated that all the material 1 j for the uniforms of the Japanese Army is manufactured at the Government | mills at Tokio, which constantly employ about 1500 hands. Mr Takahashi spent some months at Sydney, and arrived in Auckland by the last trip of the Maheno. He attended the wool sales at Napier, and after watching operations at the sale in Wellington he proceeds South, and goes on to Tasmania. Melbourne, and Sydney. It is probable that he will again visit Australia and New Zealand during next wool season. He was unable to say whether Japan would be a regular customer for New Zealand wool—that would depend on the decision of the Japanese authorities after considering the reports which he furnished on the quality of the New Zealand and'Australian wools, and on the condition of sale, and cost of shipping, etc.
