/ A MOTOR-PACED RECORD. [Per Press Association.] Timaru, January 5. On the Caledonian track, A. G. Donald, this evening, cut down the New Zealand motor-paced cycle record for two miles. The conditions were not of the best, as a shower made the track somewhat greasy and the motor skidded at corners. Moreover, the motor gave out and stopped half a lap from home. Notwithstanding this, Donald covered' the two miles in 3min 23 4-ssec. The first mile was covered in Imin 38 4-ssec. The motor had a wind shield affixed.
CRICKET.
NEW ZEALAND TEAM. Sydney, January 5. In the match against an Albun and Border team, the New Zealanders, who had scored 378 rims in theii first innings, won by an innings am 127 runs, Albury scoring 75 and 176 Bowling for the New Zealanders, Ben nett took six wickets for 66 runs. Carlton two for 17, Sneddon three for 37, Somervell none for 12, Reese th'Vee for 30, Patrick one for 13 Hemus two for 8, Sandman one fo 18, and Taylor one for 19. The heat was very trying, bein' over 100 degrees in the shade. Tin team is leaving for Melbourne oi Tuesday.
