The punishment of Lieutenant Von Foerstneu brought Herr Bethmann Hollweg, the Imperial Chancellor, into conflict with the Conservatives, who complain of the surrender to anti-militarists and Francophiles. The Conservative press are belauding Herr Yon Jagow, chief of police, as champion of Prussian ideals against those of the Democratic Party in the Reichstag. The Conservative revolt is greatly weakening Chancellor Hollweg. Von Renter’s court martial has begun at Strashurg. The charges are of usurping the executive power at Zahcrn and infringing the liberty of tho subject.
