TUTUTAWA SCHOOL.

BREAKINC-UP CEREMONY. The distribution of prizes took place on the 19th December at the Tututawa Sc hoof,' and in spite of the heavy rain a good many ladies were present, Ihe prizes were given away by Mrs W. -I. Simpson. A very hearty vote ol thanks was accorded Mr McMillan (the teacher) for the excellent work done during the year, all the children having passed,one only being in Standard VI., and he gained a proficiency certificate. After the distribution tea, cakes, fruit and lollies were served round to the children, the former provided by the, parents, fruit by committee, and the lollies donated by-Mr J. Young, Douglas. Several creditable recitations and songs were given by the children during the afternoon. The following arfe the names of the prize-winners in each standard:—

Standard Vl',—Alex Jacobson, and proficiency certificate.

Standard 1 V.—Doris Brickell, Nora Simpson and Geoff Bayly.

Standard IV.—Eva McMillan and Glen Simpson.

Standard lll.—lnez Jacobsen, Eric Jacobson, and Gervan McMillan.

Standard ll.—Daisie Simpson, Julie Jacobson, Eileen Jacobson, and Cecil Savage. P. ll.—Willie Jacobson and George

Savage. I’ I.—Moira Savage and Bennett Brickell. All these children will be promoted next year, j The following secured attendance prizes:— Standard V.—-Nora Simpson, also a Ist class certificate. Standard IV.—Glen Simpson, also Ist class certificate. Standard ll.—Daisie Simpson and Cecil Savage, and Ist class certificates., P. Ill,—Roy Savage and Ist class certificate. P. ll.—George Savage and Ist class certificate. Standard IV.—Eva McMillan and 2nd class certificate. Standard 111 .-—Gervan McMillan and a 2nd class certificate.
