THEFT AT THE EXHIBITION. [Rer Press Association.] K Auckland, December 30. A woman was arrested at the Exhibition on a charge ol stealing a sixpenny hot to ol sauce from Messr: Whittome, Stevenson and Co.’s stain in the palace of industries. A tire man who was on duty at the tinu was responsible for the arrest. Hi stated that he saw tile woman, whost name was Estolla Crawford, take tin bottle from ; the stand and burn away, whereon ho followed and stop ped her and called a constable. In reply to the question from tin fireman as to what she was doitp with the sauce, the woman stater, that she mistook the fireman for M Stevenson and just took a bottle of the stand to lask him about it. He: explanation jwas deemed unsatisfac tory and the woman was arrested She is 42 years of age. She was ai most dowdilyf dressed when arrested but when taken to the police statioi was found to be in possession of £9 12s (id in cash.
