LA PEROUSE-NELSON GABLE.

The Eastern Extension Cable Company’s cable steamer Patrol has arrived from Singapore with 300 miles of new cable aboard. She will sail on Saturday to overhaul and repair the La Perouse-Nelson cable. She will pick up the cable when two days out, and thence will overhaul it to within 300 miles of the New Zealand coast.

A surfing tragedy occurred at Cronullu, resulting in the loss of three lives, those who) were drowned being Misses Marjorie and Daphne Louden, daughters of Mr Alexander Louden, a prominent bowler, and Alexander Louden, a boy of 12 years, their nephew. Miss Marjorie Louden got out of her depth at a dangerous spot, and her nephew went to her assistance. Both got into trouble, and Miss Daphne Louden then plunged in. All wore swept out,to sea. Only a boy witnessed tragedy, and ho ran for assistance, which arrived too late. The bodies were washed ashore.
