The Daily Chronicle, in a leader, comments on the growing alarm in Australia at the cost of military training. There is evidence that t[ie expenditure per head is double that of Germany. The Chronicle adds 1 that, having regard to Australia’s geographical isolation and its youthfulness as a community, the burden of non-pro-ductive expenditure is decidedly excessive.
