New York, December JO. Reports from Preside, Texas, state • that the N orthern division of the Mexican Federal Army was apparently completely defeated and fled across the American border in a panic. American troops surrounded scores of them and forced them hack across the boundary.

It is now reported that 4,000 rebels have been scattered in all directions. Hundreds of dead and wounded are scattered along the frontier.
