NAPIER'S MARDI CRAS. [Per Press Association.] Napier, December - 30. Napier's first Mardi Grns festival proved beyond the hopes of the most sanguine. The masked carnival on the parade was distinctly novel, unci made a say sight, hundreds promenading in fancy costume. The festival closed with a magnificent display of fireworks. The weather was perfect throughout. Visitors to the town- unanimously acclaim the procession tho finest seen in the Dominion. Tli3 gross revenue from the carnival was over £'2ooo, and although the preliminary expenses were heavy. Over £IOOO will accrue to the funds of the Thirty Thousand Club for "boosting" purposes. During Xmas week just on forty-two thousand people .were carried on the trains, the revenue being nearly £3OO. The need for the four cars recently ordered was (badly felt. .
