LEGISLATIIVE COUNCIL.
TEN MEMBERS TO DROP OUT. Twelve members of the Legislative Council,are duo to retire on January. 22nd-next, and ten of them are not very likely to be re-appointed (states the New Zealand Times). This, is shown by a notification they have received from the Government, which-, after reminding them that their term will expire on the date named, proceeds: "I. desire to inform you that the Government has decided that it is inadvisable to determine the question of a new appointment until shortly before next* session. Exceptions are being made in the cases of the Hon. Mr Bare and the Hon. Mr Paul." The twelve whose terms are about to expire are the Hons. J. Anstey, J. Burr, J. B. Callan, W. E. Collins. H. Gilmer. C. M Luke, W. W. AlcCardle, J, T.. Paul ()'. Samuel. J. R. Sinclair, G. J. Smith. \V. H. Tucker.
