A BOY KILLED.

A hoy named Frederick McSavney, whose parents live at Avonside, was playing with a party at Wainoni Park this afternoon, when he was struck on the head by a swing-boat. He was taken to the hospital, but lie died on the wav.

A shooting accident occurred at New Brighton, the victim being a child seven years of age, who was shot in the head h y arevolver carelessly handled by one of his playmates, who had found the revolver, fully leaded, embedded in the sand. His condition was very critical tonight.

During the course of a match between tiie Maugalieia and Poverty Bay clubs, -Ralph Reynolds, a member of the Mangaheia team, as the result of his pony falling, had the base of his skull fractured through the pummel of the saddle striking him on the •mad. The player died with a few minutes. Reynolds was one of the best players in ihe district, and was ivellknown in polo sircles outside Gisborne. Mr Reynolds, who is a son of Mr J. R .Reynolds, of “Sandown,” was aged <l2, and unmarried.

A lad, 12 years of age, named John Payne, was drowned while bathing in, the M ater ol Leith late tins afceri noon. He dived into a pool four feet deep and failed to come up again. I he body has been recovered. FOXTON HEADS FATALITY. 1 _ Palmerston N., December 27. A sad bathing fatality occurred at I' oxton Heads on Boxing Day. Harold Lade, of Shannon, aged 29, was bathing near the mouth of the river, when he was caught by the undercurrent and carried out and drowned. The body was recovered in the evening two miles away.
