Tlie Governor’s Message simply referred to the election of a Speaker and the passing of Supply. Mr “Dick” Meagher, the caucus nominee, was the only candidate, and he was elected Speaker. Before the meeting of the House the caucus dismissed the claims to the Speakership of Mr Morton, the late Speaker and Mr McGowen. Iho voting gave Mr “Dick” Meagher a majority over the combined votes of the other two.
THE VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. (Received 9.50 a.rn.) Melbourne, Deceinhcr 24. The Assembly passed the Supply and the Income Tax Bill and adjourned till January 20th.
