RAILWAY GUARD COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.

Masterton, December 19
A railway guard, Thos. Albert Rafter was to-day committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Masterton on a charge of indecent exposure at Solway railway station.
DEAD BODY IN OCEAN.
Wellington, December 19
While the scow Echo was coming to Wellington on Thursday afternoon, an object, appearing to be the body of a man, clothed in a black oilskin, tied round the waist with rope, was passed about half a mile south-west of Sinclair Head and a mile off shore. As the sea was round and a strong wind was blowing, it was impossible to attempt the recovery of the body, on the head of which was a dark slouch hat. tt appeared to be pulled down over the face. The body was first seen by the ship’s cook, who got such a fright that ’he dropped the billy he was carrying into the sea.
