REPORT FROM WANGANUI. Wanganui, December 17. There was an exceptionally heavy rain last night, accompanied by a violent gale, and much damage was done to the roads owing to slips and washouts, while the railway line on many places are under water. Several big slips occurred at Kai Twi,,Brunswick and Wangaehu, the re. Ult: being that" the trains are blocked. | It is hoped the express to Wellington 'will get through. I The weather now shows signs of clearing. IM THE FEILDING DISTRICT. Feilding, December 17. After a furious gale, with heavy rain all night, the streams are flooded, but there is no serious damage. Ihe long-continued rain is delaying shearing and general farming work.
