OHURA NEWS.

(From the “Advocate.”)

~ Champion Piper F. C. Stuart (gold and silver medalist) has kindly offered his services- during show day. ( Harvey Bros.* Taumarunui, are the successful tenderers for the Presbyterian Church building at Ohura. The Council’s men and drays arc engaged in filling up the hollows and side-drain on the-main street of this township. Mr A. Luttrell writes and asks us to thank his friends in this districts for the many kindnesses shown him during his residence here.

The following resolutions were passed at the last meeting of the-County Council:—

That the Minister for Lands be requested to amend the law this session relating to unoccupied Crown lands, so as-to bring in future owhers of such lands liable for a special rate that may be ■ struck for the purpose o' paying interest on a loan raised and expended in giving access to same: motion to be sent through Mr C. K. Wilson, M.P. That the attention of the Minister of Public Works be drawn to the fact that only two men are employed in maintenance work on thirty miles of Main Ohura road, and that parts a< five-mile and between eleven and seventeen-mile are positively danger-
