A waterside worker named G. Guy, who is believed to be a Scotch immigrant, fell down the hold of the longa-
riro to-night, suffering severe concussion of the brain. He was removed to the hospital, where he died an hour later.
A CARRIER’S SUICIDE.
Christchurch, December 15
A man named Owen Stace, a darner, who resided with his wife and family at Woolston, committed suicide yesterday morning by hanging himself from a tree in the domain. The cmoner returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide by hanging himself whilst in a state of unsound mind.
WOMAN SWALLOWS POISON. Christchurch, December 15. Mrs A. E. Ross, of Kilmore street, swallowed poison to-day and was taken to the hospital. She is expected to recover. Hot "husband is a plumber living at Palmerston North.
DROWNED IN A RIVER. Christchurch, December IS. A man named Thomas Tasker Harris was drowned in the Selwyn River near the fishing lints on Sunday. At the inquest, evidence was given that deceased fell into the river while under the influence of drink. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned.
