HOME RULE FOR IRELAND.
IN THE DEFENCE OF LIBERTIES.

The Orange Grand Lodge of Ireland iias issued a manifesto urging the brethren to complete preparations for the defence of their liberties so as to lie able to offer resistance to Home Rule, which could only bo overcome by an jovenvhelming force persistently applied.
THE CHANCE OF SETTLEMENT. London, December ll*. Mr Bonar Law speaking at Carna.oll. said that the chance of a settlement of the Irish difficulty is smaller to-day than it was when Mr Asquith spoke at Ladybank. The Unionists regarded Air Asquith's Leeds speech is the closing of the door. He added: "If the Government has any proposal to make we will consider it regardless of party advantage, or disadvantage."
