BRITAIN LAND POLICY.
SPEECH BY MR ASQUITH. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright! [UnITEP PrESB ASSOOIATXON.I London. December 10. Mr Asquith, speaking at a National Liberal Club dinner to mark the inauguration oF the Central Land and Housing Council, summarised the land policy which bad been unfolded l»y Mr Lloyd George. He said that it was proposed to create a Ministry of Lands to absorb functions which wore scattered among other departments. The Government would assist housing by loans from the insurance' reserve fund. The Government did not intend, added Mr Asquith, to adopt the Irish system of land court which the English would not tolerate, but commissioners would carry out the scheme. There would he a judicial body independent of the executive. Its procedure would he cheap and expeditious. In Future, tenants' improvements, which at present are not allowed For, will be taken into account in the new rental.
