A Chinese rebel leader was executed at Nanking after being shot in the heart. The body was removed and cooked in accordance with Ming rites and fragments were distributed and eaten by the soldiers who carried out the execution. (The dynasty of Ming was overthrown in the beginning of the 17th century h ythe Mantchoo Tartars.)
