POLAR EXPLORATION.
THE STACKHOUSE EXPEDITION. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] London, December 8. Lieutenant Pennell, lately master of the Terra XoVa, in a letter to the newspapers, states that Commander Evans,- Lieutenant Campbell, Doctor Atkinson and other members of the Scott Antarctic Expedition of 191018, and also Lady Scott, point out that, however attractive Lieutenant Stackhouse’s expedition may he, they are not. aware that Captain Scott proposed any plans for Antarctic exploration excepting those carried out by himself or his lieutenants. Lieutenant Pennell adds that the officers of Captain Scott’s expedition protest against the unauthorised use of their leader’s name.
