The police carried out the arrest rather humorously, issuing passes to a number of journalists, tin- suffragettes permitting them to go out in a tender which was to bring hack the passen'gers and mails. The journalists were elated, thinking they were going to I witness the arrest. When within a mile of the Majestic, a boat approachled the tender and the police inspector aboard informed the "White Star iofficials that they must not proceed \intil the signal was given. The White Star people received the intimation .with mock indignation. The tender 'waited half an hour effectually screenjed from the Majestic by two warships. Apparently, with a se»t purpose, the Ipoliee boat was then seen steaming away towards Devonport. The tender was allowed to approach the liner. A passenger aboard the Majestic reflated that at dinner time on the previous evening, Mrs Pankhurst was advised to make the most of matters, but she smiled dismally ~..„ THE MILITANTS BUSY. Suffragettes have picketed prisons where Mrs Pankhurst is likely to be sent.
