Beiliss, the Jew.
RITUAL MURDER CASE.
STRANGE PRISON DISCLOSURES.
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 8.0 a.m.) St. Petersburg, December 1. Beiliss, in an interview, made remarkable disclosures regarding th® treatment meted out to him while in prison. Fearing poison, he always induced a soldier of the guards to share his food. The cell door was left open as an invitation to him to escape. He peered through once, and saw a man lidding a revolver who crept silently away. Undoubtedly he would have been shot if he had attempted to escape. The night before the verdict a soldier visited his cell and ordered him to strip; he searched his clothes, and made him open his mouth, and combed his beard. In reply to a remonstrance, the soldier said “Shut up, you devil; I have been told to kill you!” Beiliss’s cries brought the Governor of the prison, who said the soldier was looking for poison. Afterwards, Beiliss says he was treated more kindly. On mounting the staircase on the final morning, he passed two students wearing Black Hundred buttons. One, shaking his fist, said : “They teach you to kill Christian children, you dirty Jew!”
Beiliss was greatly cheered by the presence of 100 journalists, knowing that all countries would be made aware of the facts, and that nothing would be hushed up.
