OLD AND NEW STYLES. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyriaht] [United Press Association.) London, Vm-mber 29. Mr Hillton’ a well-known sportsman, owner of the racehorse Stornoway, in a speech at the Gimcrack Club, York, protested against recent slanderous criticism of the Turf. He added that many troubles were unfairly attributed to the present style of riding. While the so-called “monkey seat” was capable of exaggeration, no practical racing man would argue that riding to-day is deliberately foul or less, honest than of yore. A Rrisbane cablegram states that the Brisbane Summer Cup was won hy Owen Rue, with Pongo second, and Award' third.
