Sir Alfred Gould, head of the Cancer Research Department at the Mid- | dlesex Hospital, stated that cases I exist for which radium is useless. The ■ disease had a tendency to affect many j of the internal organs, placing it at ' present beyond the reach of radium in j these cases. But when the disease 1 was localised the results were sufficient to justify saying that treatment by radium and its emanations being added gave greater, brighter, and more con-
fident hopes than had ever attended, any remedy except operating.
