REFRACTORY FIREMEN.
THE GORINTHIC TROUBLE.
Wellington, November 28
Twenty-eight firemen from, the Corinthic pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court, to refusing duty. The men were given a chance of going back to the ship if they promised not to repeat their refusal to obey orders. Three expressed their readiness to return, and they were ordered to come up for sentence when called on. The others were sentenced to a month’s imprisonment and ordered to be placed on board the vessel if she leaves New Zealand in the meantime.
Later in the morning counsel for the prosecution said ho understood all the men were willing to go back and obey orders if the Magistrate would remit I the sentence. Mr Riddell said the men should know their own minds. He, | however, agreed they be brought before him at 2.15 this afternoon. THE MAUNCANU I. DEFENCE COMMITTEE WILL NOT RECOGNISE THE FEDERATION. Wellington, November 28.■ The Maunganni has not got a full crew yet, but it is expected she will got away to Sydney to-nigbt. The Defence Committee declines to recognise the Federation of Labor or any third, party, but will deal solely with the Arbitration Union. THE MAUNCANUI’S CREW. Wellington, November 28.
