SPORTING.

THE FEILDINC MEETING. (Notes by Cicero.) The Feilding Club received excellent acceptances for their spring fixture, which opens to-morrow and; concludes on Monday. No loss than twentyfour figure in the Aorangi Trial Plate. Ardent is among the number, and ii what I hear is true, the event is as good as over so far as the others are concerned.

The large number of nineteen remain in the Flying Stakes. Sanguinary showed a return to form at the Rieearton meeting, and is nicely handicapped in this event. Of the light weights Astor and The Great Mogul arc well in. The field engaged in St. Andrew’s Handicap is not a high class one, hut nevertheless some useful performers still remain in the number. Otahn, Ariom and Multiply will command a good following. Of the ten acceptors for the Spring Hurdles, Darby Paul w ill only have to reproduce track forin to keep tlie best of the opposition moving. Sixteen figure in the Waitium Hack Hurdles. Kurnalpi gave a good display at Waverley and has gone, on tin* right way since. Lnmsdorff and Hnia will probably be well supported also.

Brocade and Bandiera should he prominent in the Feilding Stakes, in which event the opposition will not be a.s strong as usual. A good field of sixteen cried content for tile Kiwitea Weller. Draft is fancied in some quarters, ami Glenfern aud Sir Daniel should also he well supported. A great crowd’ of twenty-six figure in the Fitzroy Hack. A lot depends on the .start in a field likmthis. Bertvftda and*Sunhird are good, beginner*.;, ami are both well at present.
