J Tne Hon. F. H B. Bell luowl that it ho amendments made in the other House to the Legislature Amendment Bill be taken into consideration tomorrow.—The Hon. \V. C. F. Carneross moved an amendment that tomorrow the Council resolve itself into Committee of the Whole to consider the amendments. When the Bill left the Council it was harmless though necessary, but coming back it was a very different measure. It was now "loaded wit hi a great constitutional principle.—Thy amendment was carried.

The Government Railways Amendment Bill and ."Mutual Fire Insurance Amendment Bill were read a third : time. T'ne Council wont into committee on I the Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill, on which progress was reported. The Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill was considered in committee. The clauses were struck out pro|vi"d'ing that in the event of tne office [of, Mayor becoming vacant within a 'year of election his successor shall be ejected by the electors of the district, 'hut if the office becomes vacant within in year of the forthcoming biennial election, the Council shall elect another ! mayor. A new clause was added providing for annual election by the people, and progress was reported. The Board of Agriculture Rill was 'taken through committee and read a j third time. The Hon. J. Rigg gave notice that the would move that the Council disagree with the amendments made by the other Chamber in the Legislature Amendment Bill, and the Council rose lat 5.20 p.m. i
