The death lias occurred at Cambridge of Sir Robert Ball, the astonomer. Mr B. Masters, of Stratford, has been appointed chairman of the Finance Committee of the Taranaki Education Board. Mr 0. X. Baine, who has been manager of the Hawera branch of the Hank- of Xew Zealand for the past eight years, has received notice, of motion to the managership at Wanganui. He will be succeeded by Mr G. A. Burgess, of Pahiatua. Mr A. 0. Wishing, touring representative for Barton's circus, arrived in Stratford last night and is now busy making arrangements for the forthcoming season, which will commence on Wednesday next (show week) for a season of two nights only.
