STEFANNSON EXPEDITION.
FEARS' FOR ITS LOSS. 11 By Electric Telegraph—Copyright J j I'imes—Sydney Sun Special Cables. (Received 8.0 a.m.) Washington, November 20. It is significant of the confirmation of the rumored disaster to' the Stefannson Exhibition that Canada is deciding to abandon Hershel Island and outposts owing to extraordinary storms and icefloes. The provisions for the steamer which departed from home in July did not reach its destination and probably returned, as it was impossible to organise a relief expedition.
THE SUPPLY SHIP. Ottawa, November 20. i The Beivedere, the supply ship believed to be lost in the Arctic, was conveying supplies for Herschel Island. If she is lost the police post will he abandoned, and there will he no means this season of communicating with the Stefannson expedition.
