A Remarkable Scene.
RESEMBLING THE VENTNOR WARSHIPS EFFECT A RESCUE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (.Received 8.55 a.m.) London, November 19. The steamer Sotsdyke, owned by Messrs Ross, Allan, and Johnstone, with a cargo of esparto grass, was afire at St. Catherine's Point. It was a remarkable spectacle, resembling the scene at the destruction of the Ven-nor, owing to the highly inflammable cargo. British warships hastened to the rescue, and the passengers and crew were taken off. The ship was abandoned.
