WEST OF ENGLAND TRADE.

[Per Press Association^ Wellington, November 19. At a meeting of the New Zealand Board of Control of the Bristol and Dominion Producers' Association was held here to-day. Mr fi. J. Colley, of Wellington, was appointed secretary. Mr W. T>. Lysnar read a letter from Mr G. R. Donnelly, who has just returned from a trip from England, in which he says: "When at Home, I, made it my business to visit both docks, and asked the High Commissioner to allow Mr Crabbe, the Govern, ment Veterinary Surgeon and agent, to accompany me, which be did. After going over the Bristol Docks I can safely say that there is no comparison so far as the handling of frozen meat and produce is concerned. The accommodation for'transhipping could not be better than at Bristol, and if they carry out further improvements in the accommodation, which I was informed they intend doing, it will he everything that is required for our frozen meat and other products. 1 was more than surprised at the handling of frozen -meat at the other in London. After all those years of the shipping of frozen meat, it is surprising to see the primitive way in which the work is done. I actually found them running the frozen meat, from three to five carcases, on hand trolleys for a distance of from two to three chains to the railway trucks, in dust and dirt consisting of horse droppings and other refuse. As you are aware the wheels are not ahove nine inches from the ground. There is no douht that our going into this matter lias given them a shock, and they now talk of going in for very large improvements. It goes to prove that all you havjt said was quite justifiable to the shippers in the Dominion,"
