INDIAN DESERTERS CREATE RIOT. [ly Electric Telegraph—C >pvrtoht] [United Press Association.] * (Received 12.15 p.m.) Durban, November <lB. The majority of Indians at Kynock’s works have struck. One thousand deserters from the Elandslaagte collieries have arrived at Ladysmith with their wives and families.
The Magistrate addressed them Their attitude was sullen and truculent, but, ultimately, they" promised to return if their fellow workers were released from prison. ' A riot, however, occurred, but was quelled. The authorities are now arming the police and enrolling an armed force of townsmen.
