INSPECTORS’ ANNUAL REPORT.
Following is a copy of the Education Board’s inspectors’ annual report on the work at the Stratford School, which was presented at last night's meeting of the School Committee :—- COMPULSORY SUBJECTS. Reading: Very good (S 113 and S VJ excellent); derivation very good. Composition; Essays good; grammar good (,S 111 excellent). Writing : \ ory sutisfsictoij . Spelling: Good to very good. Recitation : Good to very good. Arithmetic: SIV satisfactory, S V very satisfactory. S 1 and S H good to very good, S Iff and S VI very good. Drawing: Good to very good (S IA and S ill excellent). Singing: Excellent. Physical instruction: A cry good to excellent. Geography; \ ory good to excellent (S HI and S VI excellent. History: Good (S HI excellent). additional subjects. Nature Study and Elementary Science: Very good (S IV and SVI excellent). Handwork; Very good (S 111 excellent). Needlework: Very good to excellent. GENERAL. Instruction of Class P : These classes have received a very good training. Order, Discipline and Tone of the School; Good. Efficiency of the School; Very good. THE GROUNDS. Harks allotted in connection with the beautifying of the school grounds and the supervision of the premises, etc. a Possible Marks : Marks. Awarded.
100 80 THE CLASSES. S la, 801 l 49, Irene Dewhirst.—This class passed a very good examination. S II), Roll 51, S. Hogg.—This class ha S been taught in a very efficient manner. 1 1 <’ $ 1 la, Roll 36, Laura Clemnw.—The quality of the work tested in this class ranged from good to very good. S lib. Roll 41, L. Buelder.—This class had made good to very good progress in the work examined. S 111, Roll OR, Lilian Hart.—This class passed an exceptionally line examination, many of the subjects being excellent. The teaching and supervision have been particularly thorough and intelligent. S TV. Roll 51. Ella King.—This class passed a good examination. S V, Roll 57, S. W. Dyson.—This class made a very satisfactory appearance at the examination. S VI, Roll 36, .1. W. Thomas.—The class passed a very good examination, some of the work being excellent. COMMITTEE’S APPRECIATION. All- Staples moved that the committee express its appreciation of the teachers’ services, and that Mr Tyrer be requested to convey the committee’s thanks to the individual teachers; and that the caretaker be thanked for bis care of the grounds.—Air AfcAlillan seconded.—Air Fookes said the Inspectors’ report was highly satisfactory ; all the classes being well reported on. in especial the infant classes bad done well and all the pupils displayed an affieetion for the school. An excellent feature was the all-round excellence, which was a credit to the headmaster.— Air ATcAlillan said there seemed to he few other schools where there were so many “horn teachers.”—The motion was carried.
