ACCIDENTALLY POISONED.

Dunedin, /Nqyember 17.
An unfortunate, tragedy occurred, at Dellknowes, , this afternoon, when Robert Chalmers, .formerly a resident of Waitara, who; had retired.from; active pursuits, and was living at*s3, Preston Crescent,- : was' .accidentally poisoned* Mr Chalmers ' was suffering from influenza, and at midday his wife went to give-him some influenza mixture. Mrs Chalmers, ho'w'eveV, suffers from extremely defective oversight, and unfortunately gave her. husband a dose of .vapor cresolene, which had been kept in the house for:her grand children when they had been sufl'erihg from whooping cough. Mr Chalmers at once became unconscious, and although Dr. Evans was immediately; called in and tried every means to bring him round, he died at about 2 p.m. Deceased was 79 years of age.
