A STEERAGE MONOPOLY. i By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Pafiss Association.] (Received 8.20 a.in) London, November 14. •Mr Park, London emigration officer, gave evidence before the Dominion's Commission that 126 licensed passage brokers in South England, with 5000 agents, practically monopolised the sale of steerage tickets. Most of the agents knew little of the Dominions. While the authorities prevented fraud, they did nothing to prevent the distribution of highly-colored descriptions.
