The Government Meteorologist (Rev D. C. Bates) telegraphed this afternoon as follows: Freshening to strong to-gale northerly winds prevailing and veering by west to south after about 36 to 48 hours. Expect dull weather with much mist and fog in parts. Heavy rain i.s to be expected with river strising shortlv. Borametor falling, but rising m after fIG hour.:.
