BOWLING.

STRATFORD.V. ELTHAM

The team of five rinks representing the local club had an enjoyable game on the Eltham green yesterday afternoon, and they were doubly rewarded by an exciting finish and a 2-point win after a tie on the banner rinks. The day was very warm, and the green in excellent order, and play y was keen throughout. A ' somewhat unusual position arose at the close of the 25head game which had been arranged.lt was discovered that though the home team had won on the aggregate, the scores being 110 points to 10 points, the three highest rinks counting for the Banner had tied, so that it was necessary to play an extra head.. By t ais time some of the visitors had left the green, but the rinfis were arranged as strong as possible. The real decision rested with McDonald with ins last bowl, as his opponent (Carn>an) was lying one, which meant a win for them. “Mac.” drove beautifully, and cut out the opposition, lying 3 amid great applause. After the drubbing that the home team got from Stratford recently in a friendly game, it was hard luck to lose the Banner competition under such unique conditions. The hospitality of Eltham was again a marked feature of the relations between the two clubs. The detailed scores were as follow, Eltham p'avers being mentioned first:— Murray, Amoore, Gow, Lewin (s) 20, v.
