Simmons, a claim for £2OOO for alleged slander, plaintiff was granted a'-writ of capias against defendant, who said he would be leaving shortly for .lava. The slander complained of was contained in the words: "This is Shipman's finish. Madame Nordica could put him in gaol for misappropriating her money," which plaintiff alleged defendant uttered aboard the Loongana to three others; also the words: "Shipman has been robbing "Madame Nordica right and left," which it was alleged he uttered at the Hotel Australia, in Sydney, to another person..
