AN ESPIONAGE CASE.

Hentschell, who was arrested for inciting Parrott, a naval gunner, was horn in Germany and became a naturalised subject in Australia. He taught navigation and languages at Sheerness. The Magistrate announced that it was undesirable to make Hcntschell’s statement public, as lie had confined himself to general references. Hentschell declared that he purchased confidential books from Parrott and sold the contents to a foreign power. The hook dealt chiefly in gunnery, torpedoes, and signals. Hentschell paid Parrott large sums, besides a monthly retainer of eight pounds. Hentschell was remanded.
