THE SOMALILAND TROUBLE
“BUYING” THE MAD MULLAH.

The correspondent of the “Express” id Somaliland says that after the Government had presented the friendly tribes with rifles and cartridges for protection against the Mad Mullah, the bulk of the ammunition was expended in inter-tribal feuds and a large number of the rifles were given to the Mullah in the hope of buying him off. The remainder he forcibly seized. He was never likely to run short of weapons white the arms factory at Addisabeba for repairing old and discarded rifles was permitted. From this centre, rifles are distributed to'the C ongo, the Western Sahara and Portuguese East Africa.
