The Archbishop of Canterbury, presiding at the Minister's Conference, said it was necessary to re-assert the principle that what was disgraceful in a woman was disgraceful in a man. The Christian standard did not allow a compromise.
Sir Crichton Brown said the seed of impurity was disseminated by impure literature, problem plays, suggestive pictures, lewd dancing, and corrupt communications. The nation needed a little revival of Puritanism, less frivolity, and more earnestness.
