jpEB Press Association.] Blenheim, November 4. A serious'accident occurred at Jordan, Upper Awatore, yesterday. Percy McGowan and William Hale, engaged in forming a private road, were tamping a charge of blasting powder, when premature explosion resulted. The men wore hurled some distance away McGowan was thrown over a steep cliff and rolled down into a gully 70 feet below. Ho is in a severely bruised condition and is so bad that he was ordered to the hospital.' Hale had snnle teeth knocked out and his face badly disfigured, and his hand injured.
