BOROUGH WORKS.

OVERSEERS MONTHLY REPORT. i The following report will be presented to" next Monday's meeting of the Borough Council by the Borough Overseer (Mr T. 1). Sullivan):— A footpath has been' formed on Brecon Road north from Mr Jenkinson's to Regan Street—a distance of 23 chains. The sides of Broadway South, between Celia and Romeo Streets have been made up to their proper heights and grades. The soil for this was taken from Romeo Street at its junction witli Broadway, and its removal improves that part of Romeo Street very much. Some side formation has been done in Miranda Street on the west side. An entrance has been made to Mr C. Jackson's property. About 110 cubic yards of stone and shingle have been carted out of the 'river by Mr W. Green at a cost of 2s per yard. I would suggest that Mr Green lie paid for 90 yards at present, the remainder to be paid for when the material is measured. Noxious weeds have been cut on various streets in the borough. A one-inch water pipe has been laid to Mrs Patterson's house in Miranda Street and the usual connections therefrom to the houses. A bridge has been partially built at the abattoir. Three men would finish it in a day. The road roller and two men have been working for the County Council since October 22nd. \T have the timber for kerbing and channelling stacked out. When dry the work will be proceeded with. The timber should be ready in a fortnight from now. As concrete pipes are required for the carrying out of some of the authorised works I would, ask for authority to procure same. ■ , .
