WELLINGTON SESSIONS. [Pee Press Association.! Wellington, November 3. In opening the criminal ses-ions of the. Supreme Court to-day, Mr Justice Chapman expressed pleasure that, the duties of the Grand Jury would be light. About ten bills would be laid before tin jurors, .vg.l most or Mum would be of tlieo rdinary type. In one case a man was charged with -attempting to murder his wife, and in another a man Was charged with a serious offence on a girl under the age of consent.

In the; Supreme. Court to-day the Grand Jury handed a statement to Mr Justice Chapman drawing his Honor’s attention to the fact that a true bill having been found against a man. charged with having committed a serious offence against a young girl, they were unanimously of opinion that persons found guilty of offences of this, nature against girls under the age of consent should be dealt with vciy severely and made the subject of corporal punishment. His Honor said lie could not express an opinion now, as the man was on trial, but he would keep the address before him.
