PERSONAL.
King George, Queen Mary, and the Prince of Wales will visit the Czar of Russia next Easter for the betrothal of the Prince of Wales to the Grand Duchess Taitana, the second daughter of the Czar (states a Times-Sydney Sun special cable). The Grand Duchess is sixteen years old, and is pretty and charming. The Prince of Wales is now nineteen years of age.
Mr R. Munro, K.C., member for Wick Burghs, has been appointed Lord Advocate for Scotland, necessitating a new election for the Wick district in the House of Commons.
Mr M. C. Tulley, who was for some time stationmaster at Eltham and latterly at Inglewood, has just recovered from an illness of severl months’ duration. He is retiring from the service on medical advice.
Mr F. Smith, member for Waitaki, has intimated through the local press that he does not intend to recontest the Waitaki seat at the next election. A requisition is being largely signed asking Mr Norton Francis to stand for the seat.
The death occurred yesterday of Mr R. Campbell, a well-known figure in licensed victualling circles in Taranaki. He had been in the trade for about twenty years, and held licenses in all parts of the province, holding the license of the hotel at Whangamomona for some months a short time ago.
