This renowned sire m:.v fittingly be ref?rred to as one of the fountain heads of Clydesdale blood in New Zealand. His stock have been nhenomenally successful in the show-ring, and our show-yard records prove the far-reaching effect Lord | Salisbury had on the Clydesdale breed in Australasia. Lord Salisbury himself was never beaten in the show-yard, gaining first prize at Ayr, 1576; in 1877 first at Kilmarnock and champion medal for best horse in the yard ; first prize at Dairy, first prize at Ayr, first prize at Glasgow, and first prize at the Highland Society's Show at Edinburgh, first prize at Dunedin in 1881, first prize and champion at Taieri in 1883, 1884, and 1885, first prize and champion at Dunedin in 1884, 1885, ISB6, and 1887; and was brought to New Zealand by the late Mr J. F. Kitching for the Moa Flat Stud at a cost of ISOOgns. Herc-I-Go's granddam by General Outram, by Sir Colin (775, 'imp.), which was the sire of some cf the best mares New Zealand ever saw, such as Laura Macpherson, who claims Sir Colin as her sire; g.-grand-dam by Marquis, by Prince Charlie (imp.).
