LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
[Per Press Association.! Wellington, October 28. The Legislative Council met at 2.30. Imprest Supply Bill No. 5 was put through all its stages. The Patea Harbor Bill and the Wanganui Harbor District Empowering Bill were read a first time. The Hon. J. B. Sinclair moved the second reading of the Church of England Trust Bill, providing that ceitain lands held in trust for church purposes can only be dealt with undei authority of the diocesan synods or general synod.—The second reading was agreed to. The Hon. H. F. Bell moved the second reading of the Tramways Act Amendment Bill pro forma, and it was referred to a Special Committee.
The Ratogitalki Land Drainage River BWd Amendment and Water Supply Amendment Bills passed the second reading stage. On the motion of Mr Bell, the Council went into Committee on the Victoria College Amendment Bill, which was passed without amendment, With the exception of a new clause fixing a limit of seven years as the period for which a: professor may he appointed. The Council rose at 5.10.
